Job Description - Patent Counsel/Agent
Description: We are seeking experienced Patent Counsel to join OXiGENE. This position may be based in Waltham, MA or San Francisco, CA. This position will involve a considerable amount of patent prosecution, evaluation of potential new inventions, and analysis of third party IP. The selected agent will be working independently on some matters and will be supervising outside counsel on other matters. The agent will interact with in-house scientists and collaborators in industry and academia. This position will report directly to the CEO.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a patent prosecution docket.
Patent application preparation.
Draft responses to USPTO.
Coordinate patent strategies with outside patent counsel when necessary.
Conduct patent validity and infringement analysis and assist in due diligence concerning potential technology acquisitions.
Requirements:The person hired for this position will have a JD degree and a BS or equivalent in chemistry, biochemistry or other relevant life science intensive course of study, and two or more years of experience in all aspects of US/Foreign biotechnology patent work. Registration to practice before the USPTO is required.
