Falcon 345kV Transmission Line

Northeastern,
Nevada

Stantec provided a wide range of surveying and mapping services for this 185-mile electric transmission line project in northeastern Nevada.

Stantec created and studied over 900 miles of route alternatives for this 345kV transmission line project. A land base was created with over 3,000 parcels which were linked to a database of owner information based on assessor records from three counties. Over 600 special status plants and noxious weeds were mapped using GPS survey data. A customized GPS "data dictionary" containing 32 artifact features was created and used to map over 700 archaeological sites. Both historic and new field survey data was integrated into the GIS to depict habitat, nest and burrow sites, mating grounds, and migration routes for numerous special status animals. Over 1,000 miles of potential access roads were surveyed using GPS and integrated into the GIS database along with attribute information. Visual resource areas, mine locations, the historic Pony Express route, and the locations of numerous wildfire burn areas were also included.
