Environmental Scientist, Ecologist/Risk Assessor
Great Eastern Ecology, Inc. (GEE) seeks an Environmental Scientist to join our New York City-based firm to conduct ecological studies and risk assessments. GEE specializes in terrestrial and aquatic ecology with emphasis in biological surveys, ecosystem restoration, and habitat design and construction oversight. We are now seeking to expand our services for existing and new clients.
Candidates should have a B. S. degree with a minimum of 5 years professional experience in government or consulting, preferably in the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut areas or a M. S. degree and 3 years of professional experience. Preferred experience should focus on conducting ecological studies, including risk assessments focusing on terrestrial and/or aquatic ecology, toxicology, statistics/modeling, remediation and restoration.
Responsibilities for this position will include a broad variety of technical skills including but not limited to conducting field surveys, developing spreadsheets, environmental data evaluation and statistical analysis, literature research and analysis, hazard assessment, dose-response evaluation, food-chain modeling, and report preparation.
Expertise in standard Microsoft office software (Excel, Word, Access, etc. ) is a must. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills (both written and oral) superior quantitative skills, strong organizational abilities, a professional demeanor, and most importantly, a desire to participate in a dynamic, small business environment.
