Title of Position: Executive Director, Chestnut Hill Historical Society

Purpose of Position: To advance the mission of the Chestnut Hill Historical Society under the direction of the Board of Directors, including promoting the Historical Society and its objectives within the local community. Responsibilities entail overseeing the execution of the Society’s primary activities including fundraising, supporting preservation activities, marketing and promoting the organization, maintaining and extending membership, securing easements, managing staff, organizing and delivering programs, and collecting and making available to the public historical archives.
Duties:
Managerial: Supervises paid staff, volunteer coordinator and other volunteers. Provides direction and regular verbal and written feedback. Conducts, at a minimum, annual staff evaluations.
Finance: Prepares annual budget and regular monthly financial reports for the Board of Directors and Finance Committee. Responsible to ensure that Society maintains this budget and works with the Finance Committee to monitor the Society’s financial situation on a regular (at least monthly) basis. Supervises investments, handles gifts and donations, approves bills, signs checks, and reviews financial entries regularly. Assists auditor by answering all questions and reviews audit with Finance Committee.
Funding: Works with Membership Committee to identify funding needs and potential sources. Promotes the mission of the Historical Society within the local community to secure ongoing financial support from local donors.
